Cross Country 2005-6 Report and Results

CROSS COUNTRY 2005 - 06 SEASON

As detailed in the last Club Magazine we will once again be competing in all the usual Leagues & Championships including :-

Cheshire League - all ages (male & female)
Manchester XC League - U/13 boys upwards
North Staffs XC League * - all ages (male & female) * Please note that the North Staffs League will not count towards any Club Championship points (apart from for the U/11s).
North West Ladies XC League
Cheshire Championship - all ages (male & female)
Northern & English National Cross Country Championships - U13 upwards (male & female)

At present negotiations are still ongoing between the Manchester, Cheshire & North West Ladies Leagues to look at a possible amalgamated league for 2006 07 onwards. For more information please see the article elsewhere in the magazine or speak to me or Bob Lynch or any of the other committee members.

Information for the forthcoming season includes :-

(1) Dates for the North Staffs XC League (non scoring apart from the Under 11's).

Race 1 - Saturday 8th October - Apedale Country Park (new venue)
Race 2 - Saturday 29th October - Wye Road, Newcastle
Race 3 - Saturday 19th November - Stafford Common
Race 4 - Saturday 10th December - Westwood High School

Races commence with Under 11 Girls at 1.00pm. For a full schedule of race times, results & a downloadable direction map to the venue go to the League's website

(2) Dates for the Manchester XC League (which includes North West Ladies League for Matches One, Two & Three)

Match One - Saturday 29th October - Heaton Park (12.15pm start/12 noon for Ladies League)
Match Two - Saturday 19th November - Macclesfield (12.15pm start/12 noon for Ladies League)
Match Three - Saturday 3rd December - Boggart Hole Clough (12.15pm start/12 noon for Ladies League)
Match Four - Saturday 7th January 06 - Broadoak (1.30pm start)

As usual the League Secretary has indicated races may start slightly earlier than stated. You have been warned!! Also note we are hosting the second round of the Manchester / NW Ladies Leagues so your help WILL be needed.

Round 1 - Sunday 11th December - Macclesfield (start time 12.30pm).
Round 2 - Monday 2nd January 06 - Castle Park, Frodsham (start time 12.30pm)
Round 3 - Sunday 15th January - Woodbank Park, Stockport (start time 12.30pm)

Please note these are PRE - ENTRY only (often well in advance) so athletes DO NOT assume your team manager will automatically either
(a) enter you if you don't contact them first or,
(b) pay large amounts of money up front on your behalf.
It is YOUR responsibility to say that you wish to run, make contact & pay your entry fee well in advance of the deadline. Again you have been warned! I will put up this information on the club noticeboard as well including course maps if they are made available.

Lets make this a good season by getting out as many athletes as possible. This is the responsibility of us all not just team managers.
